Many of the negative comments merely reflect the reviewers difficulty in installing the gate, also the photo of the grey lock fitting doesn’t illustrate what I received, so maybe there has been design changes. My only complaint would be that the instructions were very small, and not easily read. I simply wanted a puppy barrier to go between a standard door frame. This one was cheap, but turned out well finished and surprisingly robust. It was particularly easy to install, but admit I did not use the supplied templates. The hinge side fittings were installed first, the gate hung, then the catch side fittings installed to ensure a snug and secure fit for both upper and lower fitting. This takes care of any slight misalignment/deformation that the gate may exhibit. The gate uses a traditional push and lift system of opening, which can be done one handed by an adult. All very smooth in operation, the lock being simple but quite positive. Overall, very pleased and would recommend.

Was got a bit confused about self assembly that for instruction you will find two peaces of paper that you can put on the wall and showing there you need to put the screws. Was confused about these paper instructions because my stairs are not bald wall, there is wooden corners and each sides on the walls are different distances and height. Anyway very easy to use, was suprised aactually as tried gates with trip bar tought would be more safer and solid, but these ones much better and much comfy for use. If I need recomend to a friend will say to buy these ones are the best and price does'nt bite. Just the install instructions could be a bit different to make it more easy to put the screws on the wall if the wall sides have wooden bumps corners from older house. Really good product. Happy costumer. Recomend 100%

We love these gates and have bought 5 in total as we were so happy with them. They are by far the nicest looking gates, much better aesthetics than the pressure mounted ones! They have no bottom bar which is great as my elderly dad always trips on that type. Incredibly quick and easy to fit, just need a screw driver and tape measure, took me literally minutes. Very sturdy and secure once fitted too. They are great gates for babies and animals, BUT, failed with our 3 year old foster son as he was smart enough and dextrous enough to be able to easily open these gates once he'd seen us do it a few times - which is a testament to how easy they are to operate, but not great for trying to wrangle smart and capable toddlers. Highly recommend for babies and animals, but not for older toddlers

6 month usage review. Would recommend this 100%. Pros: - Looks really nice, made from real wood. From a distance you can't see the hinges/connectors so it almost looks like its floating - Very simple to install, it includes paper templates (keep them in case you need to move it), so that you get the exact right drill locations (I sellotaped mine to the door frame). - Good solid locking mechanism, a dog could never open it, a child would really struggle. - Includes all the adjustment tools (spanner) - of course you need your own drill for the holes. - Really sturdy connectors (white plastic). - No noises from hinges or lock (eg no creek). - Opens nice a wide. - Opens in both directions. - Easy to remove the gate from the wall, unclip one connector (last photo) and it lifts off. only slight disadvantage: - The lock is really good, so can take some people a little getting used to, we've had for six months and its second nature to us now.

The gate feels quite sturdy and will be fine for dogs up to Collie size, much bigger and I would not trust it's strength. The welding has only been done on half of the upright bars, that's lazy. One of the threads was so blocked with excess paint, (that's lazy) , that I had to recut the threads, the top of the gate has rivers of dried paint (pic 2) that was also lazy, and the piece of extremely thin stamped soft steel that is pretending to be a spanner caused me to bash my knuckles on my already arthritic hands, keeping it on the nut was bad enough but on the second nut it twisted out of shape and would no longer fit the nuts, (pic 3). How long the plastic parts will last is anyone's guess but I think I better start saving up for my next gate. If I was not in urgent need of the gate I would of sent it back but I suppose you get what you pay for which is an addage to those with less money end up with the worse items.

Super easy to fit. Come's with a template to help mount brackets onto the wall and have them correctly spaced. Good sturdy design, no trip hazzards. Only negative thing is it's probably too easy to open for children
