I recently purchased this retractable safety gate to help manage my little one's explorations around the house, and it's been a mixed bag of experiences. On the plus side, the extra width is fantastic! It fits perfectly in those wider areas, like at the bottom of my stairs, where a standard gate just wouldn't cut it. The retractable feature is also a game-changer. When it's not in use, it disappears nicely, which is great for not having a bulky gate always in the way. I also found it relatively easy to use; the one-hand operation is convenient for when I'm carrying my child or something else. However, it hasn't been without its drawbacks. Installation was mostly straightforward thanks to the detailed instructions, but I can see how it might not work for everyone. Someone with smaller than usual stair pillars might have issues with mounting. Also, while it's generally sturdy, I’m not entirely confident it would contain a determined pet or a very adventurous toddler. I have a friend with a puppy who can slip right under it, so it may not be suitable for very small pets. Overall, this is a decent retractable gate, especially if you need something wider than the standard options. Just be sure to double-check your measurements and consider your specific needs before purchasing.

I've had a try to install it but just couldn't get it fit on my stair pillar as mine is smaller than usual so the mounting is too large can't get it fixed. But having check the quality it feels good, one advice is check your stair pillars before purchase it will fit most of general size but not for smaller ones.

I ordered this retractable mesh safety gate to keep my dog separate from my grandchildren when they visit ( and occasionally keeping my dog separate from me when I’m eating ). It’s a nice looking gate which when retracted takes up no room at all and keeps everything looking neat. I previously using a wooden framed dog gate which I used freestanding so I could move it around when my dog was a puppy, that was 6 years ago and the rickety old gate was driving me insane, this gate is an upgrade and then some, I love it ! Everything you need to fix this to the wall is included, bar the drill. The instructions are clear, detailed and very easy to follow, it’s all there walking you through each step. I got my 22yo son ( who’s never used a drill before ) to fix this to my wall and it took no time at all. You receive an extra set of fixings and brackets so you can fix to another room as the gate slides off with ease giving you the choice of moving it around as and when needed. Also included is the option to drill a ring fitting to the floor to deter children or dogs escaping underneath the mesh. It’s great that this is an extra wide gate even though I’m using at a standard doorframe I can feel there’s lots more mesh still rolled up that I’m not currently using. The traction is very strong, it states numerous times that you must hold the handle when retracting the gate, I wouldn’t like to just let it rip ! It sits nice and taut when opened and it’s easy to see through it. I like everything about this gate, the look and functionality of it, very happy 😊
