While this gate has some good design ideas for solving the shortcomings of the traditional super-long, room-spanning baby and pet gates that are on the market, if we're being completely honest: this doesn't REALLY solve them completely. If you use the gate's full length potential, the anchor spot on the floor really just solves the issue in that one space, and it only works if the floor surface is hardwood. If this is going across a carpeted room? The problem of every room-spanning mesh pet and baby gate remains: left to explore and poke and prod them, the kid or doggo will figure out they can squeeze underneath. Even on a hardfloor surface where you're able to make use of the anchor. If it's a medium to small type dog or a determined 2-year old getting under the gate is just a matter of time as they figure out that hitting one of the midpoints between the anchor and one of the two ends is a possibility. Odds are the dog or the kiddos attempt to go under will result in the adhesive strip peeling up (which is what happened to us). The best improvement element this offers, is the introduction of the occasional spine every few feet to create SOME rigidity in the otherwise flexible mesh. For some kids and dogs, that little bit of added resistance to the mesh and trying to sneak under might be enough to deter them. Maybe,. At least for a while. The key is to not rely on the gate so much and too often that they're given ample opportunity and motive to try. Full-room gates as a whole work best as short-term "keep out" solutions and are better still when preceded with a bit of training. I can't tell you how many of the pet gates in our house are absolutely NOT up to the task of shepherding our 2 big malamutes, but they don't know it thanks to the decent amount of training we did to make them respect whatever gate they encounter as an absolute "no jump, no scoot under surface". If you can train that into your dogs, a mesh gate like this becomes a really solid viable option, otherwise a metal-bar one is usually the better choice. ***Overall Value*** There are some nice quality of life and functionality improvements in this mesh gate design, but it's still a long ways off from solving all of the mesh gate problems. Still, it's nice to know they're at least still TRYING to improve and that makes this one a bit of a better value if you've got that hardwood floor for the mid-gate anchor.

We loved the idea of a gate that can be out of view. We have two dogs one medium, one large and a toddler. We bought this to keep the dogs out of the baby toys when we left the house. We set it up and the dogs saw something exciting outside and immediately went underneath and easily made it to the other side. Even with the reinforced strips it just didn’t do its job for us. Unfortunately will be returning for a traditional baby gate.

Overall, our family has been very pleased with this retractable baby gate by SIHOHAN. Currently, we do not have any babies, toddlers, or pets in our home. However, visiting family members do, and we wanted to be able to block off non-baby/pet-proofed areas. Almost all the rooms on our first floor have larger than average doorways or passthroughs, so we needed something bigger than the traditional gates we had when our children were little. Also, I wanted something that was halfway decent looking if we were going to have it to mounted to the wall for a couple years. Lastly, decent quality and easy installation were preferable. This gate (really more of a screen) checks all those boxes for us. However, there are some things to keep in mind if you are considering this model. - This is very large. The listing description and photos make this clear, but I will reiterate that this is gate is best suited for large openings. This is not the model you should purchase if you are looking to block off your stairs or standard size doorway. We were specifically looking to cordon off an area in an open-concept floorplan, and this is more than adequate for that purpose. - This doesn't have any sort of door or gate. The only way you can access the area you have blocked off is by unlatching and then retracting the mesh screen. Not a huge deal for us, but it might be for others. - This lacks reinforcement bars or extra supports in the screen. We haven't had this issue, but I could see damage potentially occurring if a child was aggressively pulling or tugging on the screen or a dog was pushing its head against it. At the time of ordering, this gate was competitively priced at $147.99. I find the cost reasonable, especially when considering the overall size and quality.
