Agree with most of the previous reviewers so will probably say it again but this really is a decent retractable safety gate. The design is simple but effective and the overall look isn't too bad. In the end we are talking about being safe and not adding anything to your decor but it's nice if it goes with your stuff. We installed it in a doorway and it works great. The instructions were clear, it was very easy and quick to install it and it really does the job. The quality seems ok but don't put too much pressure on it as I think it may go if you lean with all your weight against it. I like it, had other in the past, and I would definitively recommend it.

Easy to use and very effective! The instructions were incredibly clear and easy to follow and it keeps littles safe. I used it in a door frame to be honest I would not use this gate at stairs, only because if a little one was runny or hanging off it I’m not confident it wouldnt give way.

Quite sturdy and mostly easy to install, the guard rail is really sturdy and will hold a small to medium-sized dog. I would say you would struggle with a large dog.

This baby gate is perfect for stopping kids from going into the room they are meant to stay out of on play dates. You know the story: kids come over and make a mess of every room. Using this has been great for cornering off parts of the house you don't want to get messy. Yes, older kids can open it, but it is a great visual deterrent to remind them they are not allowed in places. I'd happily recommend it as it was easy to install.
